Looking for qualified dog breeders can be a challenging task. You want to make sure the dog breeder will stand behind the dog incase of any kind of health problems. Some problems are just unforeseen and do happen. You want your dog breeder to do anything they can to help you if this happens to your dog. Finding dog breeders with a good reputation is the first step when choosing a dog.

Dog breeders come in many different types. One type of breeder will test the dogs for genetic common diseases to breed their best champion dogs. These puppies are a bit more expensive while can be show dog quality.

The next type is someone that a person that loves their dog breed and want everyone to have one. These type of dog breeders usually do not test for diseases and are not looking to match traits in the dog they are going to breed. Another dog breeder is one that has many different breeds. These are usually the ones the will supply pet stores with there puppies. The owners basically have a puppy factory and breed the dogs on a continuous cycle. They are usually very poor quality of the breed and can have diseases like kennel cough as well as health problems down the road.

Finding a good dog breeder can be as easy as asking a few questions. Make sure you do some research on the breed that your want and you will be able to ask intuitive questions and find out if the breeder knows what they are talking about.  

How is the dog breeder advertising? Did you find the ad in a newspaper? Anyone advertising several types of breed are usually the factory type breeder. You might get a great deal on the dog but it could have some health problems as it gets older. If your not looking to show your dog you can find then in newspaper ads and get a real great puppy.

Make sure you can go to the dog breeders house or where they keep the puppies. If they refuse, walk away from that breeder. They may have a dirty place and the puppies are not properly cared for. Its better to not take a chance then to have to deal with the heartbreak of a dog that has health issues.

Check with your local vet to see if they can recommend dog breeders in your area. You can also check with your local pet store.

Now that you have found the puppy that you want, stop and be sure to ask more questions. Has the puppy had all of the shots needed? Do they give a health guarantee? Can you talk their vet, and to any other owners of puppies that they have sold. Get this information and make the calls, if you get a positive reference from them then you can go and get your puppy.

With all larger dogs, they will need to eat more and do cost more to feed. Always check with your vet to get a proper formulated dog food diet.
